Open To Work Social – Cookie Policy
Effective Date: September 30, 2025
Entity: Open To Work Social LLC (“OTW,” “we,” “us,” “our”)
Address: Denver, Colorado, USA

At Open To Work Social (“OTW”), we believe in being clear and open about how we collect and use data related to you. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, who we work with, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

By continuing to visit or use our Services, you agree to the use of cookies and similar technologies as described here (subject to any consent banner where required by law).

1) What technologies are used?

We use cookies and similar technologies (collectively, “cookies”) to operate, protect, measure, and personalize our Services.

Types of technology

Cookies
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device that enables features and functionality. OTW and third parties (e.g., analytics, advertising, payment and security providers; advertisers using Sponsored Rewards) may set cookies on your browser when you visit our sites or a non-OTW site that embeds our pixels/tags or displays our ads.

  • Session cookies last only while your browser is open.

  • Persistent cookies stay after you close your browser and help us recognize you, remember preferences, and measure performance.

Pixels (web beacons/clear GIFs)
Tiny images embedded in web pages or emails that request content from our servers (or a third party’s). Pixels help us understand whether you viewed, clicked, or engaged with pages, posts, ads, or emails and can enable cookie placement.

Local Storage (including browser storage & IndexedDB)
Allows a site/app to store data locally on your device to remember preferences, speed up loading, support features, and reduce server calls.

Mobile & App Identifiers
Mobile ad IDs and SDK identifiers used in apps for analytics, crash reporting, fraud prevention, and (where permitted) advertising measurement and personalization.

Other similar technologies
Tags, device fingerprinting signals, and server-side tracking used for the same purposes outlined in this policy.

Note: Names of cookies/technologies can change over time. We maintain an internal inventory and can provide a representative list upon request.

2) What are these technologies used for?

Below are the primary purposes for which OTW and approved partners use cookies.

Authentication

  • Recognize you when you sign in, keep you signed in, and route you to the right experience.

  • Verify your account and help prevent unauthorized access.

Security & Abuse Prevention

  • Enable and support security features, detect suspicious activity, prevent spam/fraud, and enforce our Terms/Community Guidelines.

Preferences, Features & Services

  • Remember choices (language, cookie settings, visibility preferences).

  • Pre-fill forms, speed up page loads, enable comments/likes/shares, support media uploads, and improve site reliability.

Personalization / Customized Content

  • Tailor your feed, recommended topics, suggested connections, and story categories based on your activity and settings.

  • Remember recent searches and viewed items.

Analytics & Research

  • Understand how our Services and plugins perform, improve features, debug issues, and run A/B tests.

  • Measure engagement with pages, posts, emails, and features (e.g., article reads, resume downloads).

  • Provide aggregated reporting (e.g., to Sponsored Rewards advertisers).

Advertising & Sponsored Rewards

  • Show ads and Sponsored Rewards offers that may be more relevant to you, limit ad frequency, and measure ad performance on and off OTW.

  • Understand whether someone who saw an ad later visited, redeemed an offer via QR, or took another action.

  • Build aggregated audiences and insights for advertisers (without giving them your private messages or sensitive personal data).

  • Where required, we obtain consent before using cookies for targeted ads and provide opt-out choices (see Section 5).

Plugins / Tags On & Off OTW

  • Enable OTW pixels/tags and social features on OTW and third-party sites.

  • If you interact with a plugin (e.g., share or apply), cookies help identify your account and process the action.

3) Who sets cookies in connection with our Services?

  • OTW (first-party) — cookies we set for authentication, preferences, analytics, security, and core functionality.

  • Service Providers (on our behalf) — trusted vendors for analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, payments, anti-fraud, email/push delivery, customer support, and cloud hosting.

  • Advertising & Measurement Partners — ad networks, demand-side platforms, and measurement providers that help deliver and evaluate Sponsored Rewards and other ads on or off OTW.

  • Sponsored Rewards Advertisers — may allow pixels/tags for campaign measurement and QR redemption analytics (we share aggregated reporting; see our Privacy Policy).

  • Embedded Content Providers — when we embed media or widgets, those providers may set their own cookies in accordance with their policies.

We contractually require providers that process personal data for us to limit use to the Services we request and apply appropriate safeguards.

4) What data do cookies collect?

Depending on the cookie, we may collect or receive: device identifiers, IP address, browser type/version, OS, language, referring/exit URLs, clickstream, timestamp, general location (derived from IP), session information, page performance, and interactions (e.g., views, clicks, likes). For advertising/measurement, partners may receive cookie IDs, mobile IDs, or hashed identifiers to help deliver or measure ads consistent with your choices and applicable law.

We do not allow advertisers to access your private messages. We do not sell your personal information for money. Where state law treats targeted advertising or certain disclosures as a “sale” or “share,” you may opt out (see Section 5).

5) Your choices

We offer multiple ways to control cookies and related processing.

A. Consent Banner & Settings (where required)

  • In regions that require consent (e.g., EEA/UK), our banner lets you accept/reject non-essential cookies and revisit preferences at any time via a “Cookie Settings” link in the footer.

  • You can typically toggle categories such as Essential, Performance/Analytics, Personalization, and Advertising.

B. Targeted Advertising / “Sale/Sharing” Opt-Out (U.S. State Laws)

  • Where applicable (e.g., California/CPRA, Colorado/CPA), use the “Do Not Sell/Share My Personal Information” or “Opt Out of Targeted Ads” link in the footer or in Settings to opt out of targeted advertising and certain data disclosures.

  • We honor recognized opt-out preference signals (e.g., GPC) where required by law and reasonably detectable in your browser.

C. Visitor Controls

  • If you are not signed in (Visitor), you can control certain cookies from our banner and via your browser. Some personalization will not function without cookies.

D. Browser Controls

  • Most browsers let you block, clear, or limit cookies (first-party and third-party). Blocking cookies may impact site functionality. See your browser’s help pages for instructions.

E. Mobile & App Controls

  • Mobile operating systems (e.g., Android, iOS) may offer controls to limit ad personalization tied to mobile ad IDs. Adjust in your device settings.

F. Email Pixels

  • You can disable images in your email client or unsubscribe from marketing emails via the link provided. Service emails (e.g., security, receipts) may still be sent.

Limiting cookies can reduce personalization and may affect your ability to stay signed in, remember settings, or use certain features.

6) How long do cookies last?

  • Session cookies expire when you close your browser.

  • Persistent cookies typically last from 30 days up to 24 months (or as otherwise required for security/legal compliance).

  • Local storage/app identifiers may persist until you clear them.
Retention periods vary by cookie purpose and partner. We periodically review and update durations.

7) Representative categories (examples)

Below are examples of cookie categories we (or partners) may use. Specific names may change.

  • Essential / Strictly Necessary: login state, load balancing, fraud prevention, CSRF protection.

  • Performance / Analytics: page performance, crash analytics, A/B testing, traffic attribution, email open/click measurement.

  • Personalization / Functionality: language, feed/topic preferences, saved filters, content layout choices.

  • Advertising / Measurement: ad delivery, frequency capping, conversion measurement, aggregated audience insights, Sponsored Rewards QR redemption analytics.

(If you want, I can generate a public-facing cookie table with sample names, owners, purposes, and lifespans.)

8) Do Not Track (DNT)

Many browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting. There is no common industry standard for responding to DNT. We currently do not respond to DNT signals. We do honor certain opt-out preference signals where required by state law (see Section 5B).

9) International considerations

We may store or process cookie-derived data in the United States and other countries. When transferring personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) consistent with our Privacy Policy.

10) Updates to this Cookie Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in technology, law, or our Services. If changes are material, we will provide notice (e.g., banner, in-product message, or email) before they take effect. The “Effective Date” above shows when it was last updated.
