Calling something a “digital magazine” doesn’t make it modern.
I just published an article breaking down why flipbooks (like ISSUU) are the MySpace of digital publishing — a relic of old thinking dressed up as innovation.
This isn’t about nostalgia. It’s about understanding the difference between simply publishing content… and actually building a media platform designed for how humans share, self-promote, and build community today.
If your “magazine” can’t be shared page by page, doesn’t give contributors visibility, and doesn’t turn readers into distributors, you’re not building media.
You’re building a brochure with better UX.
